The Pure Adventure Team
The specialist guiding company for the discerning traveller.
Steve - Owner / Operator
Steve is a true local of the Southern South Island having been born, raised and educated here. He is one of the true iconic kiwis, having had many years
experience in the high country stations and farms, mustering the mighty merino sheep, cattle and deer. Whether leading adventures in rugged and remote areas,
pursuing multi-sports or simply guiding guests around the wonders New Zealand has to offer, he delights in sharing his environment with others. It is this
enjoyment he shares combined with his knowledge of untouched hidden places, and access to special areas well off the beaten track that will ensure a very
different and special experience.
Deanna-Rose - Owner / Operator
Deanna-Rose spent many years in the corporate world before seeing the light, jumping the fence and becoming adventure oriented. Deanna-Rose has a genuine
passion for people and has an ability to make you feel like life long friends. She has trekked in the world’s jungles, mountain biked in China, and worked in
mountainous Kyrgyzstan. She has a genuine appreciation of our Maori culture which she is happy to share.
Deanna-Rose loves nothing more than to share New Zealand with her clients while making them feel safe in any environment.
Mike Stewart - Adventure Guru
We are lucky to have company founder, and now our Adventure Guru, Mike on call. Having started this company over 14 years ago he can arrange anything and
everything. He has travelled the world extensively in search of the ultimate experience, whether it is tow surfing 40ft waves, skiing wild terrain, sailing the
high seas or mountain biking trails never ridden before. Yet the lure of Queenstown means this place is always home. Skilled in almost any outdoor pursuit
imaginable, he is able to guide you through the ultimate multi sport trip. His good company and love for life are infectious.
Pete - Fountain of Knowledge
The most mature member of our team, but fitter than a buck rabbit. Pete has been there and done that. His knowledge of the area is 2nd to none when
touching on the history, the Maori, the first European settlers and the gold mining era. Pete spends most of his spare time in the hills, searching for
the elusive gold stuff which only partly explains his love for the area. He has many a tale, and personal access to many private huts. Certainly do
not judge the book by the cover when you meet him for the first time !!
Al - Guide
The ultimate outdoors man. More comfortable in the wild than sitting at a central café. With 26 years of fly fishing, 12 of them in the Queenstown
area, Al loves camping, hunting, fishing and having a laugh while passing the time of day. Not only does he know the local area inside out, but also
spends a great deal of time on the rugged West Coast.
Jim - Guide
The adventurous nature of Queenstown and being surrounded by extremely talented athletes has certainly had an effect on Jim's career path. Adventure sports are
his passion, whether it be flowing along technical single tracks on a mountain bike, adventure racing, trekking into the wilderness, climbing, skiing or
surfing. He is also an accomplished mountain runner. He loves discovering new places, honing skills and refining technique along the way. But above all else he
gets great satisfaction from showing people the spectacular environment that surrounds us.
Matt - Guide
Matt was brought up on a farm where his love of the outdoors saw him at 15 with a Bush Safety Officer qualification. He initially took an unusual route
and trained as a nurse before being drawn to this majestic area years ago. He now loves showcasing his new home to anyone and everyone! While he
came here as a jet boat driver, he has been involved in hotel management and well as event management. He is a keen sportsman and gives everything a go.
Skiing and snow boarding being his real passions for winter, while in summer Matt loves hunting, hiking and exploring at every opportunity.
Tup - Guide
Tup has many passions, but fly fishing is number one. Fly-fishing since he was a boy, Tup knows his local rivers as well as the fish themselves. His
sense of humour will lighten the day but not detract from the serious business of fishing. Tup has had a diverse work background having worked as a senior
dive master in Fiordland and Stewart Island, and is a long time volunteer Search and Rescue diver. He is also an expert underwater photographer and is one
of the original Elk farmers in New Zealand. He still has a herd of big elk on his farm to keep him out of mischief.
